SW Florida Fishing

To the south of Naples, you have the 10,000 Islands and the Everglades. A labyrinth of islands and coves with tannic waters meandering through numerous creeks and shoals. Witness the untouched piece of the Everglades with its unique wild life that make their home here. This area benefits highly in the windy winter where you can always escape the wind and weather behind the thousands of islands and protected coves. Long casts are not as necessary here due to the tannic waters, it makes it very possible to approach fish within casting range. Quickness and accuracy is the key to success! The diversity of species you can target here is unmatched year round! Snook, redfish, tarpon and trout are here year round, sharks, permit, and large tarpon are here in late spring and fall. In the winter, you get the migratory species like the mackerel, bluefish, pompano, triple tail and cobia!

To the north on the out skirts of Ft.Myers and Punta Gorda you have Pine Island and Estero Bay. Both areas are unique in their own little ways. Expansive shallow grass flats with lush turtle grass and white sand pot holes like the Florida Keys. Huge schools of red fish flood the flats in September through October, along with snook and trout on the neighboring islands and flats. Superb sight fishing, yet demands a long cast with a fly rod for the keen eyed advisories in gin clear waters less than a foot deep. And world famous Boca Grande is around the corner for some of the finest Tarpon fishing an angler can experience. Fish for tarpon laid up in the Harbor or cruising schools in the channels.
